Impressive display at Cummings Park Touch-a-Truck
WOBURN, MA, May 24, 2011 By all accounts, Cummings Properties
Touch-a-Truck
event last Sunday was the largest and most successful yet, with approximately
3,000 visitors to Cummings
Park. The family-friendly festivities offered visitors the rare opportunity
to climb into the drivers seats of large and unusual trucks, including
backhoes, loaders, cranes and a giant 1968 snow machine.
A true community occasion, it drew support from Woburn Department of Public
Works with three of its vehicles, Middlesex County Sheriff with a SWAT
truck, and even Woburn Cub Scout Pack 502, which was led by Woburn resident
Brian Grace and sold refreshments as part of a merit badge project.
Particularly popular with attendees were the public safety vehicles and
demonstrations. Massachusetts State Police delighted the crowd with a
K-9 unit, while Woburn Fire Department employed its Jaws of Life
to slice through the roof of a car, showcasing its ability to quickly
free a trapped passenger.
One of the largest machines was a 149-foot crane displayed by Woburn firm
Northeast Tree, and one of the more unusual vehicles was the North Eastern
Massachusetts Law Enforcement Councils Incident Command Unit.
Young attendees enjoyed a special visit by Bob the Builder, as well as
colorful balloons, mini hardhats, and other giveaways from area businesses,
including the Beacon Grille
restaurant. Spectators of all ages were wowed by the events finale,
a North Andover Flight Academy helicopter lifting off from the center
of the Cummings Park lot.
Touch-a-Truck is a very special event in that it brings together
the public and private sectors to provide a day of family fun for local
residents, said Ernie Agresti, a vice president of Woburn-based
Cummings Properties, the events sponsor. We are grateful to
all those who polished up their trucks and other equipment, and so graciously
shared them with the public.
Cummings Properties has been building and leasing commercial
real estate in Woburn since 1969. Its most recent project, TradeCenter
128, includes the new Middlesex County Superior Courthouse. The firm
