Cummings Park sees growth in first half of 2011

WOBURN, MA, July 1, 2011 Cummings Properties is enjoying steady growth in 2011, with more than 50 businesses signing leases at its well-known Cummings Park in recent months, including life science firms, healthcare providers, and software developers. Several new restaurants have also signed leases at the Woburn office park, bringing the total number of eateries to an even dozen, and sparking the interest of local residents as well as business people and area shoppers.

Eric Anderson, vice president of leasing and operations for Cummings Properties, attributes the increased activity to the fact that the company continues to invest in its properties even in down economies, undertaking significant renovations in anticipation of an eventual upswing.

Anderson said, “We’ve always been recognized for providing a great value and convenient location at the junction of I-93 and I-95. And with the extensive remodeling we’ve recently done, we are now ready to offer businesses commercial space with upgraded interiors, renovated laboratories, and energy-saving improvements.”

Jim Trudeau, design manager, said, “To freshen the visitor experience, we adopted the contemporary urban palette from our newest buildings: expansive glass and aluminum entries, granite and maple accent features, dramatically patterned carpet tiles, and ceiling features that enhance indirect lighting.”

The result? Since January 2011 businesses have leased well in excess of 100,000 square feet at the Washington Street office park, more than twice the square footage leased during the same period in 2010.

Behman Hambelton LLP, a mid-size, full-service law firm, was one of the businesses attracted by the refurbished office space. Having admired other Cummings Properties buildings, Behman Hambelton turned to Cummings when the firm decided to relocate from Burlington.

According to Attorney Deborah A. Katz, “Our new office is beautiful—everything is so nice and new. Cummings Properties did a wonderful buildout for us in lightning speed.”
